Niamh Smithers, M.A. (she/her) is a pre-licensed clinician working towards a License in Mental Health Counseling. Niamh earned her B.A. in Psychology from UMass Amherst and graduated with her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University, where she spent time working with clients recovering from co-occurring mental health challenges.
Her common areas of focus include anxiety, depression, co-occurring disorders and mood disorders. Niamh integrates principles from several treatment modalities into her sessions including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Expressive Therapies. She utilizes a person-centered approach to allow the uniqueness of each individual client to help guide treatment and helps empower clients to actively engage in their mental health journey.
